Kids can enter the Sunwise with Shade Poster Contest until April 13 deadline
Diana Clarke
While kids are enjoying their spring break, they can also draw a poster and submit it to The Sunwise with Shade Poster Contest for a chance to win a prize. Examples of prizes include a digital camera, a family trip to Disney World and a gallon bottle of sunscreen for the student’s school.
Kids in grades kindergarten through eighth in all 50 states are eligible to enter the contest. Posters must be received no later than April 13, 2009.
Posters should be drawn on an 8 ½ by 11 inches sheet of paper. Drawings need to be original and visually appealing. Above all, posters must communicate a message about sun safety.
Use at least 5 of the 8 Sunwise action steps. Showing your message with a picture is preferred over telling with words. Do not use a computer to create your poster. Finally, use crayons or markers instead of colored pencils, which will not reproduce well.
Convey 5 of the following 8 action steps:
- seek shade
- cover up
- wear a hat
- wear sunscreen SPF 15+
- wear sunglasses
- check UV index
- do not sunburn
- avoid sun-tanning and tanning
Send posters along with the official entry form to the following address:
